Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… some nice news for Rachel.
Since making Rachel I’ve gone on to make two more short films and naturally turned much of my attention to that process and to seeking audiences for those films. However, even though it might sometimes seem that Rachel has been forgotten, she has always been on my mind.
The nature of film making is that it’s a wonderful and often difficult journey, made in the company of a huge number of talented people who are passionate about what they do but, as each leg of that journey is completed, those companions gradually scatter and go off to make other films, until finally there is just a director, clasping a beloved film in their hands, seeking a path to audiences that will share their love for it.
In the case of Rachel, an audience would have to love this film an awful lot to match the affection I have for it, the team I worked with and the memories of that magical experience of making my first film. So, thank you again to all the brilliant people who came together to make Rachel and, rest assured, that the journey is not yet over and I am still here clasping this precious film in my hands and offering it up to the world so that product your hard work and friendship can be as loved and appreciated out there, as it is by me.
